YMCA of Northern Colorado has purchased the entire camp for the Greater Colorado Council (2024). The sale included an agreement that Scouts could continue to have access to the camp. The YMCA is making extensive improvements to the camp including an expanded septic system, a shower house, a kitchen, and road upgrades. The YMCA honors the DAC/GCC 80+ years of running the most beautiful camp in the Rockies and welcomes Scouts to Camp. The Tahosa Alumni Association is working in partnership with the YMCA to provide the best camping experience possible for all Scouts in Colorado. The YMCA will charge $5 per person, weekend, or $100. Whichever is less! The YMCA will allow districts to have camporees in the fall, winter, or spring and offer Okpik. Use of cabins will be on a case-by-case basis/Rental costs will be in alignment with former DAC pricing. Conservation projects and other service projects are available. Since the camp is now privately owned. Eagle projects can happen on camp!


Camp Tahosa is located about 60 miles northwest of the Denver Metropolitan area. It is high in the mountains, at 9600 feet elevation, with 320 acres. Tahosa is available for weekend camping. During the summer the Tahosa Challenge program is offered. During the winter, OKPIK, the winter survival training course is available. Summer camp is not available.
How to get there: To access Camp Tahosa from Denver drive northwest to Boulder. Take Canyon Blvd or Arapahoe Ave. West, the streets eventually merge into CO119. Continue west into Nederland, and turn north on CO72. You will pass the outskirts of Ward, 4.5 miles beyond Ward turn west off CO72 onto CR96 to Camp Tahosa. There is a sign for Tahosa on CO72, but it appears quickly so be on the lookout for the sign.
